Michael Bourn has speed to burn for the Astros but it’s hard to steal first base
Speedy center fielder Michael Bourn is as fast as hell but it won’t matter if he doesn’t start hitting the ball on the ground and take full advantage of his speed. Bourn has played in 28 games for the Astros so far this season and he is 21 for 104 (.202 avg, .605 OPS) with 14 runs scored, 3 homers, 5 RBIs and 13 stolen bases. Bourn better get his bat going because veteran Darin Erstad has been swinging a hot bat so far this year. Erstad has played in 28 games for the Astros this season and he is 14 for 46 (.304 avg, .700 OPS) with 11 runs scored, 4 RBIs and 1 stolen base. With the catchers on the Astros not hitting the ball they can’t afford to keep playing Bourn unless he earns his time by hitting the ball better.
I’m not really an Astros fan, but I’ve noticed the same thing about Bourn. Incredible base stealer, but at some point he becomes a disservice to the team by not getting on. He only has 16 runs to Berkman’s 40!

Well you got what you wanted his average has climbed 30+ in a months time and it actually helps that Coop has moved him to the 7 spot in the lineup. They also called-up Reggie Abercrombie who I’ve watched sense the Marlins called him up. I also think that he could even be a better all around player than Michael Bourn ” No disrespect to Michael” but Reggie can hit Ausmas from Towels hill at the plate on one hop. It also is little known how fast he is. He is a bigger guy than most speedy players but he can out run Matsui and Pense I have no doubt in my mind and hits for great power when he hits the ball. His and Bourn’s average would most likley be in the same area he’s just a more tool player than Bourn. Erstad is a good player he just insent going to play the outfield as good in Houston as good as these two guys will. They actually have enough offense in the lineup to cover for a OK hitter and great definsive center fielder just ask former Astro Willy Taveras he’s been to two World Series and he is just 26 and has always played that way.
I used to be a season ticket holder for the Marlins and I think you are a little off on Abercrombie. If he had any talent at all he would have beaten out Alfredo Amezaga last season. Michael Bourn will likely continue to start in CF as he has finally showed some life with the bat in his hands.
I respected your comment chinmusic, I do understand you all the way. I just think Reggie has alot of potental and I tinck he will eventualy break out.
