The Astros went 0-7 last week as they were outscored 52-15 by their opponents. The Astros played some of the worst baseball I have ever seen last week and they deserved to lose every game. The Astros entered this week with a 21-29 record which had them in 5th place in the National League Central, 7 games behind the Brewers.

Hunter Pence has been awesome this season for the Houston Astros

24 year old righty swinging Hunter Pence has been incredible so far this season. Pence is the #1 rated prospect in the Astros organization according to Baseball America and he’s proving it on the field. Pence started the season in AAA and he played 22 games there and was 29 for 85 (.341 avg, .986 OPS) with 16 runs scored, 3 homers, 19 RBIs and 2 stolen bases. The Astros decided to call him up because they were having problems scoring runs and he’s been great for them. In his first 25 major league games, Pence was 34 for 96 (.354 avg, .996 OPS) with 11 runs scored, 4 homers, 18 RBIs and 2 stolen bases! Pence looks to be an excellent building block for the Astros in their future…….starting right now!

Roy Oswalt has been outstanding as usual for the Astros

Roy Oswalt is off to another great start for the Astros this season. In 11 starts, Oswalt is 6-3 with a 3.04 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP so far. In 77 innings, he has allowed 67 hits and has walked 25 batters while whiffing 51. Look for Oswalt to continue pitching great for the Astros this season.

Woody Williams has been awful for the Astros so far this year

Woody Williams is finding that Minute Maid Ballpark isn’t as forgiving as Petco Park. In 10 starts, Williams is 1-6 with a 5.52 ERA and a 1.53 WHIP so far. In 58.2 innings, he has allowed 71 hits, 12 homers, has walked 19 batters and whiffed 24 of them. Look for Williams to continue to have a hard time as he seems to have lost it.

The Astros were 3-3 last week despite getting outscored 30-20 last week. The Astros had some timely hitting as their pitching wasn’t too good last week. The Astros entered this week with a 21-22 record which was good for 2nd place in the National League Central, 5.5 games behind the Brewers.
